THE JOURNEY OF A TEACHER TO AN AUTHOR

Ever since in college Accounts has always been my favorite subject not only because it’s the Language of business, but also of the subject’s relatability & applicability in real life.

If someone would have asked me three years prior in 2017 would I have been a teacher down the line, I would have probably said No!, But because of Ashank Academy of Learning my passion for teaching was discovered, it has become an endless path of learning & growing.

As students we have always struggled with the choice of textbooks for subjects and it was pretty much the same in Accounts too, teaching with reference books is even more strenuous because we are always trying to deliver the best to our students.

With the given opportunity as Beverly Cleary once said, “If you don’t see the book you want on the shelf, write it.” That’s what I did.

In collaboration with Ashank I curated & authored an Accounts Textbook specially designed for 12th Grades across all boards of syllabus. This textbook is both Student and Teacher Friendly unlike many of those which are only student friendly.

I had spent endless nights writing & re-drafting this book, as I had to balance my day between my automobile outlet and as a part time teacher in Ashank. It took me over four months to complete the book and another six months to get our hands on the first hardcopy of the book.

I have to tell you though, that writing & curating the book was the easier part, compared to feeling anxious about its response from our students. We have started using the book for the academic year 2020-21 through our online classes and it has got a warm welcome and is a huge help to the students and to me personally.

I’m thankful to Ashank Academy of Learning for their constant support and encouraging me in the journey of discovering my passion for teaching and guiding me through in publishing The Accounts Textbook for 12th Grade. I look forward for this journey to continue for years to come.
